About us

The Wiener Kammersymphonie is a chamber ensemble formed from the meeting of 5 top musicians working in Vienna. This special collaboration combines the already astonishing individual artistic experiences into a common result.

The Vienna Chamber Symphony was founded in March 2006 on the occasion of the Mozart Year and immediately made its debut in Spain with particularly successful concerts, which were enthusiastically received by both the public and the press as some of the best concerts of the season. Initially, the repertoire focused on works by Mozart and Viennese classical music. However, due to the constant search for new forms of expression, the musical spectrum has continuously expanded to include contemporary works of the 21st century.

Always performing at the highest musical level, the ensemble has received numerous invitations from almost all parts of the world. The Sureya Opera Istanbul, the Ankara Festival, the Ravello Festival, the Alba Festival, the Mozartbox in Italy and two extensive tours of South America are just a few examples. Highly successful engagements in Spain, Italy, Poland, Latvia, Slovenia, England, Denmark and most recently in France and Montenegro testify to the high artistic quality, but also the esteem in which the WKS is held everywhere.

In 2012, the WKS recorded a CD with chamber music by Stefan Pelzl. This is available under the title “Cham Chameii”, distributed by Preiser Records.

As a current project, Mozart’s “Magic Flute” was conceived in a version for string quintet and recitation in collaboration with the Teatro Real de Madrid.
